IV Technician Endorsement Course: April 1-19th

Are you ready to take the next step on your EMS provider journey?  

PREREQUISITES

  • A sponsoring agency*
  • EMT with at least 1 year of experience
  • Non-Mason or Kitsap County students: Please click the  from your MPD acknowledging this class will meet your county’s initial IV Technician training requirements

During this, you will have the following requirements:

  1. Complete a 8-hour emergency department clinical rotation
  2. Complete a 8-hour field rotation with an EMS agency.
  3. A total of 12 IVs starts with supporting documentation.

The Basics:

This course is for current EMTs with at least 1 year of experience who would like to expand their knowledge and skillset to become EMT/IV Technicians.

During this course, you will have the following requirements:

  1. Complete a 8-hour emergency department clinical rotation
  2. Complete a 8-hour field rotation with an EMS agency.
  3. A total of 12 IVs starts with supporting documentation.

A student must complete 12 successful IV starts to complete this course. The first few of these will be completed on IV mannequins. Additional LIVE starts will be on your fellow classmates in labs during class sessions. You will be provided with all proper sanitizing equipment under the care of a qualified instructor or a course-approved paramedic.

Upon completion of this course and the required paperwork, graduates are eligible to obtain their IV Technician endorsement from the Washington State Department of Health. Once you become an IV Techinican, you will have a required amount of live sticks per year or show proof of competency.

  • April 1st: 17:30-21:30
  • April 3rd: 17:30-21:30
  • April 5th: 8:30-17:30
  • April 8th: 17:30-21:30
  • April 12th: 8:30-17:30
  • April 15th: 17:30-21:30
  • April 19th: 8:30-17:30 Final

+ Students will need to complete an 8-hour field rotation at their home agency and an 8-hour hospital at Mason General Hospital. ***

COSTS:

The costs below are based on 12 students. A minimum of 10 students must be enrolled by the application deadline for the course to commence at this cost.  If less than 10 students are enrolled, the current enrollees will be contacted to address going forward at a higher fee. 

  • $275 if the student brings all of their own supplies.
