This course is for current EMTs with at least 1 year of experience who would like to expand their knowledge and skillset to become EMT/IV Technicians. During this course, you will have the following requirements: A student must complete 12 successful IV starts to complete this course. The first few of these will be completed on IV mannequins. Additional LIVE starts will be on your fellow classmates in labs during class sessions. You will be provided with all proper sanitizing equipment under the care of a qualified instructor or a course-approved paramedic. Upon completion of this course and the required paperwork, graduates are eligible to obtain their IV Technician endorsement from the Washington State Department of Health. Once you become an IV Techinican, you will have a required amount of live sticks per year or show proof of competency. + Students will need to complete an 8-hour field rotation at their home agency and an 8-hour hospital at Mason General Hospital. *** Bremerton Readiness Center 5151 Linden St Avenue Bremerton ***Students may bring expired catheters to use mannequins. Students may only do live sticks with non-expired catheters.
